That was the case with Milwaukee Composites, Inc. (MCI), a Milwaukee-based manufacturer of composites floors and doors. MCI is building and donating the flooring for the Milwaukee streetcar's five initial vehicles — a $100,000 donation to our city. However, no one knew about their generous donating or about MCI: a hidden gem right here in Milwaukee who has built flooring for 14,300 transit cards in service around the globe.
To raise awareness about their donation, Versant coordinated an event for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and other city officials to tour MCI’s plant and see first hand the floors that will end up in the Milwaukee Streetcar — and at no cost. To entice media attendance, Versant built a microsite (MilwStreetcarFloors.com), which houses a video message from the CEO and information about MCI’s decision to donate. Versant also designed t-shirts for all of the MCI’s employees to wear during the event and other signage to be used throughout the plant on the day of the event.
